Terms of Service
These Terms apply to AMoon Eclipse web, mobile, desktop, and self-hosted deployments.
1. Acceptance
By using AMoon Eclipse, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the software or any hosted instance.
2. Service Model
AMoon Eclipse is designed as an end-to-end encrypted messenger. The server relays encrypted data and supporting metadata needed to operate the service.
If you self-host the software, you are responsible for your own deployment, users, logs, backups, moderation, and compliance.
3. User Responsibilities
You are responsible for your account, devices, credentials, and recovery data. Losing a device or private key may make encrypted history unrecoverable.
You must not access another user's account, keys, messages, or devices without permission.
4. Acceptable Use
You may not use AMoon Eclipse to:
- violate applicable law
- harass, threaten, or abuse others
- distribute malware, scams, phishing, or spam
- bypass authentication, rate limits, or security controls
- probe, scan, or attack the service
- upload content you do not have the right to use
Access may be restricted, suspended, or removed for abuse or security risk.
5. Encrypted Data And Metadata
The system is designed so the server cannot read message plaintext.
The server may still process metadata such as IDs, timestamps, public keys, encrypted bundles, IP addresses, and security logs.
6. License
Source code is licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 unless a file says otherwise. See LICENSE.
7. No Warranty
The software is provided "as is" without warranties. Use it at your own risk.
8. Limitation Of Liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, the maintainers and contributors are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
9. Changes
These Terms may change when the software or service changes. Continued use means you accept the updated Terms.
